THE RAINBOW TRIBE (2011)

Morgan Roberts (David James Elliott from JAG fame) just learned that the cancer he thought was gone, is back. To try and deal with what seems to be the inevitable, he joins his childhood best friend who is running a summer camp. As one of the camp counselors he is then allocated a bunch of misfits but together they learn what is really important in life. In the end they all leave an indelible imprint on each other.

Like I mentioned in the beginning: not your usual overly sentimental or slapstick fodder. (It does contain the obligatory food fight scene though.) This one is recommended not only for kids as there is ample food for thought for us grown-ups as well. I gave it 3 out of 5 stars.
